Written by A massive Thank You From Toppet Hill! Our first official event – celebrating the reopening of the newly refurbished Little Theatre in Lockerbie – was a huge success. A sell-out! The crowd and the atmosphere was fantastic, the place looked great and the music was superb. Thanks to all involved, the audience, the acts and to Lynn and Nick and the team that worked so hard on the renovations and making the night run smoothly.
It was a perfect snapshot of was Toppet Hill is all about – we had local singer Emma Cloy, back on stage after a break of 12 years, getting the crowd warmed up. Fantastic voice! Then, from Glasgow, ahead of their debut album launch in October, the indie alt.folk outfit Merrowfolk. They performed their new album in full – what an experience, from lush harmonies to darker, discordant tones, gentle melodies to throbbing synth lines. While the stage was being cleared, Fraser Garner stepped up and sang a couple of songs. It was his first time performing on a stage like that, and he nailed it! Looking forward to hearing more from him. Finally, Little Theatre regulars Kurlew took the stage and brought the night to a rousing finale.
Chuffed to see that merrowfolk enjoyed it too…
This is just the beginning for Toppet Hill Events. We have a diverse line-up of acts and events – looking forward to sharing the details over coming months.
